After sweeping the opening 206 weekend in the Route 66 Sprint Series, Carter Pryor loaded his IONIC Edge Chassis up for competition once again as he took to the Mid-State Kart Club in Illinois.
The weather varied throughout the weekend, featuring a fair bit of sunshine in between light showers. This didn’t phase Pryor, as he drove a perfect day on Saturday by qualifying on the pole, winning the Pre Final, and winning the Final.
On Sunday, though, Pryor found his competitors had risen to the challenge. He started off in similar fashion by taking the pole award in qualifying, but the Pre Final was an all-out battle. After fighting for the lead in the first half of the heat race, Carter was able to pull a small gap to secure the first starting position in the Final.
By the time the main event had rolled around, even more drivers found themselves able to slip by Carter early. However, Carter put his head down and made quick work of his competitors. After dropping to fourth off the start, he once again found himself in the lead. From there, he slowly built a gap once again and was able to complete his second weekend sweep in as many Route 66 LO206 race weekends.
Carter Pryor’s winning streak currently extends even further beyond the 4 wins in Route 66 competition, as he’s won in his last 12 race starts. With those wins coming from three different racetracks across the Midwest, it’s safe to say that Carter Pryor has solidified himself as a driver to “run the stopwatch on” wherever he lines up next.
